A civil engineering trainee's job responsibilities are similar to an engineer. But the trainee is under supervision, thanks to his lack of experience and expertise. The supervisor is usually a registered, experienced and licensed civil engineer. The trainee position's purpose is to guide and develop a new graduate into a seasoned engineer, with major emphasis being put on job safety and learning.
